In today’s Economic Times, there is small write up on “This Week That Year” it says that “it was this week a decade ago that India got its first Nobel prize in economics”. At that time I was told by a Tamil language teacher Mr Manikkam in my schools.
It adds “The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the 1998 Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in memory of Alfred Nobel to Professor Amartya Sen… for his contribution to welfare economics, social choice..” but he has been arguing against “social choice” to the people of India for long time.
Read the “Freedom Matters more than education how Amartya Sen is an Enemy of the Poor” by Sauvik Chakraverti.
